They’re calling. Yes, the rivers are saying it’s time for a paddle adventure. Too bad we’ve had nothing but rain, rain, and more rain for the past few weeks.
Combined with spring melt, the rivers are rising like crazy and paddling in my neck of the woods neither advisable nor particularly enjoyable at the moment.
So what’s a person to do?
- Do a little web and guidebook research, find a drier locale and trip on over for a paddle adventure.
- Plan a lake trip where swift currents and muddy, debris-choked channels are not an issue.
- Haul out the wet weather gear and go for a land-based, outdoor adventure.
Let’s face it, bad weather doesn’t last forever… it just sometimes feels like it does. It won’t be long before the golden glow of the evening sun on your shoulders washes away all memories of June monsoons.
And yes, enjoying the outdoors sometimes calls for a little optimism!
